I’ve got a confession to make

coaching

I’ve got a confession to make—I struggled with the idea of bringing personal development coaching back into my business. I put it off for a year, continually kicking it down the road to a “later” date.

Let me take you behind the scenes of my internal struggle—the battle between my Purpose and Profit keynote speaking, podcasting, and consulting work, and my personal development coaching. At its core, it’s a tale of uncertainty, self-doubt, and feeling like I needed to fit into an easily categorized and readymade box.

The inner struggle wasn’t because coaching isn’t aligned with what I love to do and what I’m good at. It was because my inner critic was having a field day continuously raising questions like: What will people think? Am I allowed to do more than one thing? Can I go in all the directions that my energy is pulling me? And let’s not forget the ever-looming fear of my website looking like Mr. Potato Head—a mishmash of unrelated parts.

But amidst the chaos my inner critic was relentlessly churning, a glimmer of truth began to emerge: authenticity trumps niche every time. In a world obsessed with finding your “one true calling,” I’ve discovered that being true to yourself is the ultimate secret to success.

People who are doing what brings them alive, who are living and working in alignment with their true selves, are the ones who truly thrive. Both in business and in life.

And you know what? Both sides of my business bring me alive. They light my fire and fuel my passion for making a difference in the world. You see, I’ve come to embrace the fact that we all contain multitudes. We’re not just one-dimensional beings confined to a single box. A box someone else created. Instead, we’re a tapestry of passions, interests, and quirks. And that’s okay. In fact, it’s more than okay—it’s beautiful.

There’s a fundamental and profound intersection at the heart of my Purpose and Profit work and my coaching work. The intersection is humans. To have aligned businesses, we need aligned leaders. And while purpose makes brands remarkable, living in a way that enables your inner spark to shine makes humans remarkable.

Whether it’s Purpose and Profit work or coaching, it all boils down to one thing for me: guiding individuals and organizations into the best version of themselves, with integrity, honesty, and alignment.

So, if you ever find yourself struggling to reconcile your passions, remember this—you’re not alone. Embrace your multifaceted journey, lean into the uncertainty, and trust that your life path is meant to be yours alone. That means no one else’s path is going to look the same as yours, and the more you allow yourself to be guided by your own authenticity, the more uniquely individual your path will become.

If you want help embracing your multifaceted journey—and getting back on your unique path—I’m here. That’s exactly what I do through The Shift Coaching.

Here’s to embracing the fullness of who we are and making magic happen along the way!
