There’s a strange thing that happens when a dream starts to die.
Not because it failed.
But because you outgrew it.
It might’ve been the job you once wanted.
The title you worked so hard to earn.
The stability you once craved like oxygen.
And now, here you are. Sitting inside the life you asked for. The life you fought for.
And wondering… why doesn’t it fit anymore?
It’s disorienting.
You’re not miserable—at least not always.
It’s more like a slow dulling of the senses.
The spark that used to pull you forward has faded into something you can’t quite name.
You feel… off. Restless. Uninspired. Maybe even guilty for wanting something different.
Maybe a little confused for not knowing what that something different is.
I know this feeling. Because I’ve lived it.
For years, I followed the path I thought I was supposed to. I climbed the ladder, I built the resume, I collected the credentials and shiny milestones. From the outside, everything looked like success. From the inside, something was starting to ache.
I remember sitting in back-to-back meetings, feeling like I was drifting further away from myself with each passing quarter, while part of me wondered when I started measuring time in quarters.
At first, I thought I just needed to try harder.
Work smarter. Build boundaries. Find a better boss.
Then I thought maybe I needed a bigger title. Or more time off. Or a sabbatical.
What I didn’t realize was this:
When you outgrow the life you built, more strategy won’t fix it.
You need to listen.
To the boredom. The confusion. The daydreams you keep dismissing.
Not as problems to solve, but as signals trying to guide you home.
We don’t talk about this enough.
We talk about burnout and toxic workplaces and better productivity systems.
But we don’t talk about the moment when you wake up and realize:
“I built a life I don’t want anymore. And now I have to unbuild it.”
It’s terrifying. But it’s also sacred.
Because that’s the moment you stop chasing shoulds and start reclaiming your wants.
That’s the moment the shift begins.
If you’re somewhere in this in-between space—no longer lit up by the life you worked so hard to create—then I want to invite you to something that might help.
