Businesses that use agricultural products in their supply chain have the opportunity to support farm conversion of their suppliers to regenerative agriculture.
Regenerative Organic Alliance established the Regenerative Organic Certification in 2017. This certification was created by a group of farmers, business leaders, and experts in soil health, animal welfare, and social fairness.
Why create this new certification?
The Regenerative Organic Certification is the first certification that takes a holistic look at farming. Whereas, for example, organic certification only looks at what isn’t done during the farming process (i.e. use of pesticides) but doesn’t cover items such as improving soil health, working conditions, etc.
As the Regenerative Organic Alliance website states:
We exist to heal a broken system, repair a damaged planet, and empower farmers and eaters to create a better future through regenerative organic farming.
By adopting regenerative organic practices on more farms around the world, we can create long-term solutions to the climate crisis, factory farming, and fractured rural economies.
Not in a position to shift the supply chain approach for your company? You can still choose to look for the ROC label on the products you buy.
